the guy outside
ver. 3

if the cigarette between his lips
could tell a lie it would
maybe it would testify
and tell that it withstood
the trials of his homelessness
the ruling by old friends
the heartless laugh from spoiled youth
the spineless way he bends.

yet through his eyes the streets may be
a home which doesnt cage
his freedom won with ringless hands
did all to assuage
his endless thirst for being alive
and having quick relief
until he found that living free
gave him hapless grief.

now fed by worlds of charity
and winter homeless kitchens
money never spent on health
is saved to feed addictions.
he tries to fight sobriety
with stolen silver coins
he tries to take the life away
that only time purloins.

it saved him from the rodent race
for fiends of green control
instead he chose to live his life
for alcohol he stole.
he foolishly inebriates
and strolls the streets by day
for if he had a home he might
forget to live astray.
This is my second time rewriting this, and im starting to feel satisfied with it. lemme kno what u think.

I think it's seriously moving!
I've been commenting on just about all of your poems... I can't help it, they're so good that I have to tell you so. XD
